On the way to Tyrol, we come to Mittenwald, the world-famous violin-making town at the foot of the Karwendel. On a walk through the market street, you can admire the frescoes on the house facades and the view of the painted church tower of the parish church of St Peter & Paul.
The route continues along the Isar to the border at Scharnitz with the remains of the former fortifications, also known as the ‘Schanze’.
Continue to Seefeld (1,185), where the Nordic competitions of the Innsbruck Winter Olympics were held in 1964 and 1976. A monument on the road commemorates this.
During a short stop at the end of the village of Mösern, we have a breathtaking view down into the Inn Valley from the ‘Peace Bell’ (short walk). Albrecht Dürer already captured it in a self-portrait.
Then it's down to Telfs (630 m) in the Inntal valley and over the Mieminger Plateau (850 - 1,000 m) to the Fernpass (1,216 m).
The return journey is via the ‘Zugspitzblick’ service area and Ehrwald back to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
We will also be happy to put together an individual programme to suit your wishes and make suggestions for a pre-booked lunch.
