Founded in August 2009, we, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Tourist Guide Association (GFV-GaPa e.V.), are a dynamic association of 28 active, self-employed tourist guides.
It all began in the summer of 2008 when, on the initiative of the adult education centre and the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Tourist Information Office, a comprehensive qualification course for tour guides was offered in accordance with the guidelines of the Federal Association of Tour Guides in Germany (BVGD).
More than 30 inquisitive people took the unusual course to equip themselves with the specific professional skills under the supervision of high-profile experts. After four months of intensive study and a rigorous examination in theory and practice, the time had come: 28 ladies and 2 gentlemen received the ‘Zugspitzstern’ certificate from the mayor and have been passing on their acquired knowledge to our guests ever since.
In 2023/24, another training course to become a certified tour guide took place. 15 participants successfully passed the exam. As a result, we have gained new tour guides and our association has been rejuvenated. Through close networking and a lively exchange of information as well as numerous further training courses, we guarantee competent and rapid realisation of your individual wishes - regardless of whether they are small or extensive requests.
